NYC Ferry Ticket Terms and Conditions

NYC Ferry Ticket Rules

Buying Tickets
Authorized sources to purchase tickets include:
• NYC Ferry App for iOS or Android phones
• Ticket machines at Ferry landing
• NYC Ferry Agents when present

Ticket Expiration
Starting September 12, 2022, all tickets, whether purchased via App or Ticket Vending Machine, will be valid for 90 days. All tickets sold prior to September 12, 2022, will continue to be valid for 365 days after purchase.

Ticket Validity
One-way tickets are valid any day of the week. Once activated, the pass is usable for up to 120 minutes for a single-ride (and transfers within the NYC Ferry System) in the same direction.

Ticket Activation
Tickets purchased through www.ferry.nyc can only be redeemed through the NYC Ferry Mobile App. Before you board, ticket requires activation. When boarding, show the deckhand your smartphone with activated ticket and “tap” the screen so the ticket changes color.

Ticket Sales and Refunds
All sales are final. Not for exchange, resale, or transfer. Not intended for specific departure time and can be used from any NYC Ferry location. Lost tickets will not be replaced. HNY Ferry, LLC is not responsible for tickets obtained from unauthorized sources, which may not be valid. All
passengers and carry-on items are subject to search. Restricted and dangerous articles may not be brought on board. If you buy a ticket, you consent to have your image or likeness appear in any live or recorded video or other transmission or reproduction. HNY Ferry, LLC reserves the
right to refuse service or remove passengers from a vessel, event, or premise if determined to be necessary for appropriate safety reasons, if you cause discomfort, inconvenience, or annoyance to passengers, crew members or agents, or if your behavior is deemed to threaten the safety, good order, or discipline. We reserve the right at any time to cancel pick-ups or change departure or arrival times. Submitting an order for tickets to HNY Ferry, LLC, by any means possible, indicates your agreement to these terms and conditions

NYC Ferry Discount Program
NYC Ferry administers the Ferry Discount Program. The Ferry Discount Program permits eligible individuals to purchase a reduced-fare One-Way Ticket for the NYCF. Ferry Discount Program eligible riders include:
• Senior citizens, aged 65 and older
• Persons with disabilities; and
• Current participants in the Fair Fares NYC program
• School Student Discount Program

Warnings
The holder assumes all risk of danger and injury. No suit, action, or proceeding against HNY Ferry, LLC or its parent, affiliates or contractors, vessels, agents, crew, or employees of any of the foregoing entities, shall be maintainable for loss of life of bodily injury to any passenger unless written notice of claim be delivered to HNY Ferry, LLC within six months from the date of incident. No civil action against HNY Ferry, LLC or its parents, affiliates or contractors, vessels, agents, crew, or employees of any of the foregoing entities may be brought more than one year after the occurrence if based on personal injury or death. It is agreed by and between the passengers and HNY Ferry, LLC that all disputes and matters, whatsoever, including, but not limited, to those involving personal injury or death of a passenger, which arise under, in connection with or incidental to the ticket or the voyage shall be adjudicated, if at all, in and before a court of competent jurisdiction located in the state of New York to the exclusion of the courts of any other state or country. Pursuant to 18 U.S. Code § 2280, interfering with the safe navigation of a vessel or assaulting a crew member may result in 5 years in prison and $50,000 in fines.

Ferry Discount: Senior Citizens

Terms and Conditions – Senior Citizens

NYC Ferry (“NYCF”) administers the Ferry Discount Program, which permits eligible individuals to purchase a reduced fare One-Way Ticket for the NYCF. Ferry Discount Program eligible riders include:

  • Senior citizens aged 65 and older;
  • Persons with disabilities; and
  • Current participants in the Fair Fares NYC program.

These are the Terms and Conditions for those seeking and/or qualified to participate in the Ferry Discount Program as Senior

Citizens. By applying to the Ferry Discount Program, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.

 

Enrollment in the NYC Ferry Program:

You must apply online, in person, or by mail to enroll in the Ferry Discount Program. Please allow thirty (30) days for application processing. You must also meet the below eligibility requirements.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible to participate in the Ferry Discount Program as a senior citizen, you must be aged 65 or older. When completing your application, you must submit one of the following documents to verify your identity and age:

  • Government Issued Photo ID (e.g. NYS ID, IDNYC, Driver’s License from any state, US Military ID)
  • Expired government issued photo ID – up to 3 years prior
  • Passport from any country
  • Tribal ID
  • USCIS Registration Card/Permanent Resident Card/Green Card Naturalization Certificate
  • Adoption Papers
  • Birth Certificate
  • Medicare Card

How the Discount Program works:

  • NYCF will make the reduced fare $1.35 One-Way Ticket available on the NYC Ferry App to verified Ferry Discount Program users, and in-person sales at the Wall St./Pier 11 ferry landing.
  • Ferry Discount Program users may purchase their in-person tickets at the Wall St./Pier 11 ferry landing with a valid photo ID, Monday – Sunday between 8am-7pm.
  • One-way tickets will be valid for ninety (90) days from the date of purchase.
  • Once activated, the ticket will be usable for up to 120 minutes for a single ride and transfers within the NYCF system in the same direction.
  • A valid photo ID and the approval letter are required in order to purchase tickets at Pier 11.

Lost or Stolen Paper Tickets:

Lost or stolen paper tickets will not be replaced.

 

Requesting a Refund:

There are no ticket refunds. All sales are final. Not for exchange, resale, or transfer.

 

Expiration of Ferry Discount Program:

Your enrollment in the Ferry Discount Program will expire 60 days after the date that is listed on the back of your Fair Fares NYC MetroCard.

 

Renewing Enrollment in the NYC Ferry Discount Program:

If the Ferry Discount Program is in effect, you will not be required to renew your enrollment in the Ferry Discount Program.

Availability:

Ferry Discount Program discounts will only be available while the Ferry Discount Program is in effect, starting on September 12, 2022.

 

Changes to These Terms and Conditions:

NYCF may change the terms of the Ferry Discount Program at any time by notifying you of such changes by any reasonable means (before they take effect), including by posting revised Terms and Conditions on the NYC website. Your use of the Ferry Discount Program following any changes to these Terms and Conditions will constitute your acceptance of such changes. If you do not wish to continue using the Ferry Discount Program under the updated Terms and Conditions, you may terminate your participation by contacting us.

 

Severability:

Unless as otherwise stated in these Terms and Conditions, should any provision of these Terms and Conditions be held invalid or unenforceable for any reason or to any extent, the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions will not be affected, and the application of that provision shall be enforced to the extent permitted by law.

 

Governing Law:

You agree that the laws of the State of New York, without regard to “conflict of laws” provisions, govern these Terms and Conditions and any dispute that may arise between you and NYC Ferry or its affiliates.

 

Ineligibility:

If you are found ineligible to participate in the Ferry Discount Program, you will receive an e-mail or letter describing the reason that your application was deemed ineligible. If you think the denial was a mistake, you can request a review of your application or renewal application. You must make this request within 14 calendar days from the date on the notice you received.

 

Restrictions:

The Ferry Discount Program discount may only be used by the person to whom it has been validly issued. Use of your Ferry Discount Program discount by any other person may result in your removal from the Ferry Discount Program.

 

Penalties:

If you allow use of your Ferry Discount Program by anyone else, you will receive a 60-day suspension from the Ferry Discount Program. After the 60-day suspension ends, you can reapply to the Ferry Discount Program. If you commit a second offense, you will be permanently disqualified from the Ferry Discount Program. If you intentionally provide misinformation to NYC or otherwise seek to mislead or defraud NYC, you may be permanently disqualified from the Ferry Discount Program.

 

Disclosure:

NYC Ferry will treat information concerning current and former applicants and participants as confidential and may only disclose such information:

  • To the person who is the subject of the information or such person’s legal representative;
  • If authorized in writing by the individual to whom such information pertains, or if such individual is not legally competent, by such individual’s legal representative;
  • If so ordered by a court of competent jurisdiction;
  • For the purpose of administering the Ferry Discount Program, including to verify eligibility and enrollment in the Fair Fares NYC Program with the NYC Department of Social Services/Human Resources Administration, provided that such disclosure is made in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local privacy laws and regulations, and subject to the further requirement that such information will not be redisclosed to any other third party in the absence of written permission from NYC Ferry;
  • At NYC Ferry’s election, to a law enforcement agency or district attorney’s office to investigate suspected instances of fraud related to the administration of the program; and
  • To a law enforcement agency or district attorney’s office that serves NYC Ferry a judicial subpoena or judicial warrant.

Ferry Discount: Persons with Disabilities

Terms and Conditions – Persons with Disabilities

 

NYC Ferry (“NYCF”) administers the Ferry Discount Program, which permits eligible individuals to purchase a reduced fare One-Way Ticket for the NYCF. Ferry Discount Program eligible riders include:

  • Senior citizens, aged 65 and older;
  • Persons with disabilities; and
  • Current participants in the Fair Fares NYC program.

These are the Terms and Conditions for those seeking and/or qualified to participate in the Ferry Discount Program as a Person with a Disability. By applying to the Ferry Discount Program, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.

 

Enrollment in the NYC Ferry Program:

Eligibility Requirements:

The NYC Ferry Discount Program provides reduced-fare tickets for people with disabilities who have the following documentation:

  • MTA Reduced-Fare MetroCard
  • Access-A-Ride ID
  • Medicare Card (and under 65)
  • New York State Commission for the Blind Registration Letter
  • Disability Award Letter from the Social Security Administration, Railroad Retirement Board, or the U.S Postal Service
  • Veterans Administration Letter stating that you are entitled to Veteran’s Disability Benefits

If you applied for the Ferry Discount Program as a disabled person but no longer possess the documentation used to verify eligibility as disabled, you will be considered ineligible for the Ferry Discount Program and must notify NYC Ferry. If you have another accepted form of documentation, you may re-apply using that document for verification.

 

How the Discount Program works:

  • NYCF will make the reduced fare $1.35 One-Way Ticket available on the NYC Ferry App to verified Ferry Discount

NYC Ferry (“NYCF”) administers the Ferry Discount Program, which permits eligible individuals to purchase a reduced fare One-Way Ticket for the NYCF. Ferry Discount Program eligible riders include:

  • Senior citizens aged 65 and older;
  • Persons with disabilities; and
  • Current participants in the Fair Fares NYC program.

These are the Terms and Conditions for those seeking and/or qualified to participate in the Ferry Discount Program as current participants in the Fair Fares NYC program. By applying to the Ferry Discount Program, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.

 

Enrollment in the NYC Ferry Program:

You must apply online, in person, or by mail to enroll in the Ferry Discount Program. Please allow thirty (30) days for application processing. You must also meet the below eligibility requirements.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible to participate in the Ferry Discount Program as a Fair Fares NYC participant, you must be a current Fair Fares NYC participant and have an up-to-date Fair Fares NYC MetroCard. Fair Fares Access-A-Ride (AAR) participants should apply for the NYC Ferry discount for “Persons with disabilities” and submit their AAR ID card or AAR Metro Card on the application.

 

If at any time you no longer participate in the Fair Fares NYC program, you will be disenrolled from the Ferry Discount Program and will no longer be eligible for this discount on NYC Ferry. Participants who are suspended from the Fair Fares NYC program would need to reapply to the Ferry Discount Program.

 

You must complete an application online, in person, or by mail to be eligible. To complete your application, you must submit an image of your current Fair Fares NYC MetroCard, entering the Fair Fares MetroCard serial number in the additional comments section of the application or submitting a screenshot of your Access HRA account showing current enrollment, serial number, and enrollment/expiration dates. If you submit a MetroCard photo, the Fair Fares MetroCard must legibly display the individual serial number as proof of eligibility.

Enrollment in the Ferry Discount Program will expire 60 days after your Fair Fares MetroCard expires, to allow time for your renewal to be processed without a lapse in enrollment

 

Availability:

Ferry Discount Program discounts will only be available while the Ferry Discount Program is in effect, starting on September 12, 2022.

Student Discount Program

Terms and Conditions – New York High School Students

NYC Ferry (“NYCF”) administers the Ferry Discount Program (“Ferry Discount Program”). The Ferry Discount Program permits eligible individuals to purchase a discounted One-Way NYCF ticket (“Discount Ticket”).

As of September 1, 2024, NYCF provides opportunities for New York City high school students to participate in the Ferry Discount Program (“Student Discount Program”) and access Student Discount Program tickets (“Student Tickets”).

These are the terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”) for those seeking and/or qualified to participate in the Student Discount Program as currently enrolled New York City high school students (“Students”) or the legal guardians of a currently enrolled New York City high school student (“Guardian”).

By submitting an application to the Student Discount Program, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.

Ferry Student Discount Eligibility Requirements:
Any person enrolled in grade 9, 10, 11, or 12, or is enrolled without an assigned grade, in a school of the city school district of the city of New York or a charter school located within the city of New York.

Enrollment in the Student Discount Program:
To access the Ferry Student Discount Program, eligible students must have their guardian log into or create a New York City Student Account (NYCSA). For information on how to do that, see XXXX.

Within the NYCSA portal, guardians can click a button to request a NYC Ferry Student Discount Code (“Discount Code”) for each eligible student. Guardians and/or students must choose whether they would like to apply the Discount Code to access Student Discount Tickets either within the NYC Ferry Mobile App or via in-person purchase of paper tickets at the Wall St./Pier 11 ticketing window, open every day between 8AM-7PM. Please note the Discount Code can only be applied to one NYC Ferry account and cannot be applied both within the NYC Ferry Mobile App for digital discount tickets AND on the website for paper discount tickets.

How to purchase Student Discount Program tickets:
App Tickets:If you would like to access Student Discount Tickets within the NYC Ferry App, a Guardian and/or student must take the following steps:

  1. Ensure the App is downloaded on the Guardian or Student’s mobile phone.
  2. Navigate to the App.
  3. Login to your NYC Ferry account or create a new account if you are a new user.
  4. Once logged in, select the button in top left corner of the screen and select “Promo Code” in the drop-down menu.
  5. Enter the unique Discount Code provided in the NYCSA account.
  6. Once a valid Discount Code is entered into the App, the user will automatically have the option to purchase Student Discount Tickets in the ‘Buy Ticket’s tab in the App.

Paper Tickets:Paper tickets are available via in-person purchase at the Pier 11 ticketing window. To verify a Student’s eligibility for paper student tickets, a Guardian and/or Student must take the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Website
  2. Click “Access Student Paper Tickets” within the Student Discount page 3. On that webpage, fill out the Student Discount Paper Ticket Application Form by entering your first/last name, the email address you would like to be associated with the Student Discount, phone number, and Discount Code. Please note the Discount Code can only be applied to one NYC Ferry account and cannot be applied to both the App for mobile discount tickets and on the website for paper discount tickets.
  3. Once you have submitted the Student Discount Paper Ticker Application form, an email from NYC Ferry will be delivered to the listed email address confirming receipt of your request for in-person purchase of paper Student Tickets.
  4. Please allow up to [XX days] for your paper Student Ticket request to be processed.
  5. Once processed, NYCF will send a confirmation email with a letter formally confirming eligibility to purchase paper Student Ticket.
  6. Save this letter attachment, as you will need it to verify enrollment when purchasing paper Student Tickets
  7. When you arrive at the Pier 11 ticketing booth, show the NYCF ticketing agent the letter attachment to confirm enrollment in the Student Discount Program

All Student Ticket Rules:
· Student Tickets are only valid on weekdays.
· Students may use Discount Tickets starting on September 1, 2024, through August 31, 2025.
· Students and/or Guardians will have no limits on the # of Student Tickets they can purchase at any time.
· All Student Codes will expire by August 31, 2025. Students must reenroll in the program each year.

Mobile Student Ticket Rules · Mobile Student Tickets may only be activated one-at-a-time. Once activated, Students and/or Guardians will not be able to activate another mobile Student Ticket for 30 minutes.

  • Mobile Student Tickets will expire after 90 days.

Paper Student Ticket Rules:
· All paper Student Tickets will expire on August 31, 2025.

  • If a Student purchases paper Student Tickets that go unused at the end of the year, the Operator shall issue a full refund, if requested by the Student or Guardian.

Lost or Stolen Paper Tickets:
Lost or stolen paper tickets will not be replaced.

 

Expiration of Student Discount Program Enrollment:
All Discount Codes will be deactivated on August 31, 2025; therefore, all mobile or paper Student Tickets will expire on August 31, 2025. Renewing Enrollment in the Student Discount Program: Students and/or Guardians will need to reenroll in the Student Discount Program for the next school year. Availability: Student Discount Program tickets will only be available while the Student Discount Program is in effect. Changes to These Terms and Conditions: NYCF may change the terms of the Student Discount Program at any time by notifying you of such changes by any reasonable means (before they take effect), including by posting revised Terms and Conditions on the NYCF website. Your use of the Student Discount Program following any changes to these Terms and Conditions will constitute your acceptance of such changes. If you do not wish to continue using the Student Discount Program under the updated Terms and Conditions, you may terminate your participation by contacting us.

Severability:
Unless as otherwise stated in these Terms and Conditions, should any provision of these Terms and Conditions be held invalid or unenforceable for any reason or to any extent, the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions will not be affected, and the application of that provision shall be enforced to the extent permitted by law.

Governing Law:
You agree that the laws of the state of New York, without regard to conflict of laws provisions, govern these Terms and Conditions and any dispute that may arise between you and NYCF or its affiliates.

Ineligibility:
If you are found ineligible to participate in the Student Discount Program because you do not have access to a NYCSA account, please contact XXXX.

Restrictions on Student Tickets:
Student Discount Program Tickets may only be used by Students. Use of a Student Ticket by any other person may result in your removal from the Student Discount Program.

Restrictions on Discount Codes:
Discount Codes may only be used to access Student Tickets by a Student or a Guardian on behalf of a Student; however, Guardians cannot use a Discount Code to purchase a Student Ticket.

Use of a Student Discount Code by any other person besides a Student or Guardian on behalf of a Student may result in your removal from the Student Discount Program.

Penalties:
If you allow use of your Student Ticket by anyone else, you will receive a 60-day suspension from the Student Discount Program. After the 60-day suspension ends, you can reapply to the Student Discount Program. If you commit a second offense, you will be permanently disqualified from the Student Discount Program.

If you intentionally provide misinformation to NYCF or otherwise seek to mislead or defraud NYCF, you may be permanently disqualified from the Student Discount Program.

Disclosure:
NYCF will treat information concerning current and former applicants and participants as confidential and may only disclose such information:

  • To the person who is the subject of the information or such person’s legal representative;
  • If authorized in writing by the individual to whom such information pertains, or if such individual is not legally competent, by such individual’s legal representative;
  • If so ordered by a court of competent jurisdiction; and
  • To a law enforcement agency or district attorney’s office that serves NYCF a judicial subpoena or judicial warrant.
