Hello October! As we kiss goodbye to Summer and watch it sail off on a Hornblower New York cruise, New Yorkers are graciously welcoming the cooler weather, hoodies, and the many Fall festivals and events the city has to offer. Whether you are a foodie-festival-goer, an Andy Warhol wannabe, or simply looking for the next big event to Instagram about you will be sure to find the top events across New York City for October in this blog.
To make it easier we’ve categorized events and festivals by the New York boroughs, so depending on your GPS coordinates you won’t have to travel very far to have some fun!
MANHATTAN
LOCATION: West Manhattan, NY
If you are a fan of the movie ‘Chocolat’ then this festival has your name written all over it. On October 8th and 9th the Big Chocolate Show is happening at 269 Eleventh Avenue in West Manhattan. The first annual event will feature some of the world’s greatest chocolatiers, chefs and artisans from Europe and North America. From talks and tastings; to culinary classes; to exhibitions and chocolate competitions this festival is sure to leave a great taste in your mouth.
LOCATION: Lower East Side, Manhattan, NY
Get your appetite ready as the 7th annual Grub Street Food Festival will take over Hester Street Fair at Essex Street. Why you should attend, you ask? First, it is free admission except for when purchasing what you eat, plus there will be over 50 restaurants, food trucks and food wagons serving up their best culinary masterpieces. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 1st.
LOCATION: Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY
There’s no better way to celebrate a Saturday or Sunday in the Fall than at a Brooklyn Flea Market. ‘Smorgasburg’ happens from April to November that welcomes locals and tourists to explore this culinary and craft market. Celebrity Chef, Mario Batali called it, “The single greatest thing I’ve ever seen gastronomically in New York City,” Young or old this event was created for all ages. Give your taste buds a whirl and expand your culinary knowledge!
