Previous NextLast week, the NYC Ferry team furthered its community outreach efforts in Queens, New York. We kicked off the week with a meeting at Assemblyman Phil Goldfederโs office. Goldfeder, who is a Far Rockaway native, represents areas that include Ozone Park, Howard Beach, Broad Channel and Rockaway. He is very passionate about improving transportation for residents within the 23rd district which is why he is supportive of the NYC Ferry project and believes that it will be beneficial for those living in the community.
During the session, we addressed questions surrounding different aspects of the project and how it will have an impact on Rockaway residents. Amongst some of the topics that were discussed during our meeting with Goldfeder included the construction time frame for the vessels, the specific vessels that are being designed to handle the rough Rockaway waters, safety procedures, and how NYC Ferry will shape the workforce in the local community.
On Thursday, we met with Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr. Addabbo Jr., who hails from Ozone Park and represents the 15th Senatorial District. Heโs dedicated to developing jobs and economic growth and protecting the environment.
During the session with Senator Addabbo Jr., we discussed the shuttle bus service in connection to the ferry and how that option can serve residents living in NYCHA developments. We also covered parking options near the ferry dock, job creation for locals and proposed departure times for the route.
