Billion Oyster Project

Did you know that an adult oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water a day? Billion Oyster Project was founded in 2014 by Murray Fisher and Pete Malinowski, who envisioned a healthy, biodiverse New York Harbor. Billion Oyster Project offers volunteers the opportunity to learn about New York City’s rich oyster history and lead the movement to restore it. In the next 5 years, they hope to restore 100 million oysters to New York Harbor which was once home to 220,000 acres of oyster reefs.

Looking to change the world in 2022 one oyster at a time? Billion Oyster Project is always welcoming volunteers with open arms!
