NYC Ferry Fourth of July Service Changes

4th of July Schedule

In observance of Independence Day, NYC Ferry will operate a weekend schedule on Monday, July 4th and service will also end early across all routes due to waterway closures related to planned firework activities.

Please find route-specific details regarding schedules below:

East River Route:

Due to an early closure surrounding the Hunter Point South landing, the following will be the last departures to and from Hunters Point South:

  • Last Wall Street/Pier 11 departure bound for Hunters Point South – 4:08 PM
  • Last Hunters Point South departure bound for Wall Street/Pier 11 – 3:58 PM

The following are the last departures on the East River route.

  • Last Wall Street/Pier 11 departure bound for E34th Street – 5:40 PM
  • Last E34th Street departure bound for Wall Street/Pier 11 – 5:33 PM
  • There will be no Midtown Shuttle Bus service provided on this day. Shuttle buses will resume normal service on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

Rockaway Route:

  • Last Wall Street/Pier 11 departure bound for Rockaway – 3:44 PM
  • Last Rockaway departure bound for Wall Street/Pier 11 – 4:54 PM
  • Both Rockaway East and West Shuttle Buses will operate on a weekend schedule with service ending at 4:00 PM.

South Brooklyn Route:

  • Last Corlears Hook departure bound for Bay Ridge – 4:48 PM
  • Last Bay Ridge departure bound for Corlears Hook – 4:48 PM

Astoria Route:

  • Last Wall Street/Pier 11 departure bound for E90th Street – 4:19 PM
  • Last E90th Street departure bound for Wall Street/Pier 11 – 4:38 PM
  • There will be no Midtown Shuttle Bus service provided on this day. Shuttle buses will resume normal service on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

Soundview Route:

  • Last Wall Street/Pier 11 departure bound for Ferry Point Park – 4:10 PM
  • Last Ferry Point Park departure bound for Wall Street/Pier 11 – 4:30 PM
  • There will be no Midtown Shuttle Bus service provided on this day. Shuttle buses will resume normal service on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

Governors Island:

  • Last Governors Island departure bound for Wall Street/Pier 11 – 5:19 PM

4th of July Events

Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks

In Macy’s famous fireworks display, shells are launched off five different barges on the East River. The extravaganza lasts 25 minutes and features, according to Macy’s itself, “dozens of colors and shapes, creating dramatic effects a mile across the river and from 1,000 feet in the air to the water’s edge.”

Roosevelt Island Fourth of July Family Fireworks Celebration
July 4, 2022

Roosevelt Island is hosting an annual 4th of July celebration, especially suited for families. There are tons of activities for all ages including bouncy houses and food. Attending the event is free, but as availability is limited, tickets are required. The Cornell Tech campus will be open and available to the public as a viewing location/ No ticket is needed for access. FDR Four Freedoms State Park will host a limited-ticket Fourth of July Family Fireworks Celebration from 6 PM-10:30 PM. Registration will open on Wednesday, June 30th at 1 PM.

Join the Lower Manhattan Historical Association on July 4th for their annual march in Lower Manhattan from Castle Clinton to the Seaport.
